Before Surgery

Pre-Admission Call:
After you and your physician decide your date of surgery, you will receive a call from a nurse at the Regional Ambulatory Surgery Center. The nurse will take your medical and surgical history. She will ask about your allergies. Please have a list of your current medications. The list should include the name of the medication, the dosage, and how many times a day you take the medication.

The nurse will tell you what medications you will be allowed to take on the morning of surgery. She may ask you to bring some of your medications to the Surgery Center with you on the day of surgery. You may be taking some medications which should not be taken for several days prior to surgery. If you are taking any of these medications, the nurse will tell you when to stop taking them.

If you doctor orders bloodwork or an EKG, you will be directed to go to the hospital of your choice to have these procedures done, 5 - 7 days prior to your scheduled surgery.

The interviewing nurse will answer any questions that you may have related to your upcoming surgery.

Pre-Op Call:
On the day before surgery, a nurse from the Surgery Center will call you and confirm your surgery. She will instruct you on what time you should report to the Surgery Center.
